Goldman Sachs expects Nvidia ’beat and raise,’ lifts price target to $240
Investing.com-- U.S. President Donald Trump said on Wednesday he has asked the Department of War to immediately resume testing nuclear weapons at a similar scale as other nuclear powers.
“Becuase of other countries testing programs, I have instructed the Department of War to start testing our Nuclear Weapons on an equal basis,” Trump said in a Truth.Social post. “That process will begin immediately.”
Earlier in the day, Trump said he had approved South Korea’s building of a nuclear-powered submarine at a U.S. shipyard.
His comments come just before a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Thursday, where the two are expected to hash out a more elaborate trade agreement.
Trump’s comments also come shortly after Russia said on Wednesday that it had successfully tested a nuclear-powered super torpedo. Earlier in October, Russia also tested a new cruise missile and nuclear launch drills.
"For the first time, we managed not only to launch it with a launch engine from a carrier submarine, but also to launch the nuclear power unit on which this device passed a certain amount of time," Putin said. "There is nothing like this."
The U.S. has the world’s biggest nuclear stockpile, and had last tested a nuclear weapon in 1992.
