GLOBAL MARKETS
Asian stock markets slipped on Tuesday, oil sagged and a
safety bid supported the dollar as simmering Sino-U.S.
tensions and fresh coronavirus restrictions in California
kept a lid on investor optimism as earnings season gets
underway. MKTS/GLOB WORLD OIL PRICES
Oil prices fell around 2% in early trade on Tuesday on
worries that new clampdowns on businesses to stem surging
coronavirus cases in California and other U.S. states could
threaten the nascent recovery in fuel demand.

SOUTH AFRICA MARKETS
South Africa's rand firmed on Monday, helped by increased
risk appetite as investors bet again on a global economic
recovery. KENYA MARKETS
The Kenyan shilling KES= weakened slightly on Monday due
to an uptick in dollar demand from merchandise importers
after authorities begun a phased easing of
coronavirus-induced movement restrictions last week, traders
said.
NIGERIA ARBITRATION
The Nigerian government has uncovered previously unknown
payments to the daughter of a Nigerian official, its lawyer
told a court on Monday, in its latest attempt to overturn an
arbitration award against it worth close to $10 billion.
NIGERIA MAIZE IMPORTS
Nigeria's central bank told lenders on Monday to stop
processing new trade documents for maize imports with
immediate effect, a week after it unified its multiple
exchange rates in an attempt to ease dollar shortages and
conserve its dwindling reserve. IVORY COAST COCOA
Most of Ivory Coast's cocoa growing regions received
below-average rainfall last week but good soil moisture
content contributed to a favourable outlook for the upcoming
