NAIROBI, Jan 23 (Reuters) - The following company announcements, scheduled economic

indicators, debt and currency market moves and political events may affect African markets on

GLOBAL MARKETS

Asian shares and U.S. stocks fell on Thursday as investors

remained anxious about the spread of a new flu-like virus in

China just as millions prepared to travel for the Lunar New

Year. MKTS/GLOB

WORLD OIL PRICES

Oil prices fell to their lowest in seven weeks on Thursday

on concerns that the spread of a newly identified

respiratory virus from China may lower fuel demand at the

same time a report showed oil inventories in the United

States rose last week. O/R

SOUTH AFRICA MARKETS

South Africa's rand firmed more than 1% on Wednesday, helped

by a recovery in demand for riskier assets, while

Dutch-based technology group Prosus PRXJn.J led stocks

lower.

KENYA MARKETS

The Kenyan shilling KES= edged up on Wednesday supported

by inflows from horticulture exports and offshore investors

into government debt, traders said. NIGERIA GAS

Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas has signed a deal with French

energy group Total TOTF.PA for 1.5 million tonnes of LNG

per year, the African producer said on Wednesday.

ZIMBABWE INFLATION

Zimbabwe's central bank governor said on Wednesday annual

inflation was expected to sharply fall to 50% by the end of

this year, as the bank left the main lending rate unchanged

saying it was working to stabilise the exchange rate and
