Investing.com-- U.S. President Donald Trump on Thursday lashed out against a recent trade court ruling that attempted to block his tariff agenda, and expressed hope that the Supreme Court will reverse the decision.

In a long, rambling post on Truth.social, Trump criticized the trade court ruling and the judges that backed it, while lauding the court of appeals for staying the initial ruling.

“The ruling by the U.S. Court of International Trade is so wrong, and so political! Hopefully, the Supreme Court will reverse this horrible, Country threatening decision, QUICKLY and DECISIVELY,” Trump wrote.

The U.S. Court of International Trade had ruled on Wednesday that Trump had overstepped his authority with his tariff agenda, and had given the president 10 days to reverse course.

But Trump appealed the decision almost immediately, with the appeals court leaving his tariff agenda in place as it considers his appeal. The next hearing on the case is scheduled for June 5, although the matter is widely expected to end up in the Supreme Court.

Trump lashed out against the judges that ruled against his tariff agenda, referring to the trade court as “backroom hustlers,” while also reiterating the need for his steep trade tariffs.

Trump also repeated his claims that his tariffs will bring in “trillions of dollars” to the country.

The White House signaled earlier on Thursday that even if it lost in court over the tariff decision, it could still roll out Trump’s tariff agenda using other mechanism.

Trump had in April outlined steep tariffs against major U.S. trading partners, with particular focus on countries with large trade surpluses with the United States.

But he had shortly after announced a 90-day extension on most of his tariffs, claiming that the tariffs were chiefly aimed at bringing countries to the negotiating table. Trump’s tariff exemption deadline is set to expire in early-July.
