Investing.com -- President Donald Trump signed an executive order Thursday creating a new position for the government’s chief design officer and will appoint Airbnb Inc (NASDAQ:ABNB). co-founder Joe Gebbia to the role, as reported by several news outlets on Thursday.
Gebbia will reportedly lead a new National Design Studio at the White House, tasked with redesigning government forms and processes.
As the nation’s first chief design officer, Gebbia’s mission will be to "prioritize improving websites and physical sites that have a major impact on Americans’ everyday lives," according to the text of the executive order released by the White House.
The mandate could include redesigning income tax filings, Social Security applications, Medicare enrollment, immigration services, and other high-volume government services that millions of Americans interact with regularly.
The new design initiative aims to make government services more user-friendly and accessible to citizens across various federal agencies and programs.
