Wall St futures flat amid US-China trade jitters; bank earnings in focus
Investing.com-- Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) is planning to increase its manufacturing capacity in Vietnam and will build more home devices in the country as it weans off its dependence on China, Bloomberg reported on Tuesday.
The company is developing a host of new home devices for 2026, including indoor security cameras and a house control hub. The company is also planning an advanced tabletop robot for 2027, the Bloomberg report said.
While home devices represent a small portion of Apple’s sales, the company is attempting to ramp up its offerings in the sector, especially as it grapples with sluggish sales in its flagship devices, specifically the iPhone.
Increased manufacturing capacity in Vietnam also represents Apple’s ongoing efforts to reduce its dependence on China, especially amid heightened Sino-U.S. trade tensions.
Apple was seen shifting more of its iPhone production to India this year, after major hub China was slapped with higher import duties by President Donald Trump.
