Investing.com - Vodafone Group PLC (LON:VOD) said Thursday that Microsoft’s Pilar López has been appointment as the Chief Financial Officer effective October 1, 2025.

López will succeed Luka Mucic, who is leaving the company as previously announced on May 7, 2025.

López will begin a transition period with Mucic before formally assuming the role of Chief Financial Officer and Executive Director on December 1, 2025, following Mucic’s departure on November 30, 2025.

Lopez is joining the company after a tenure at Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT), where she held several leadership positions, including Chief Operating Officer for Western Europe.

Before her time at Microsoft, Lopez was at Spain’s telecom company Telefonica (BME:TEF), holding a range of financial and executive roles.

Vodafone Group CEO Margherita Della Valle highlighted López’s "deep-rooted knowledge of both the telecoms and technology sectors, across a range of international leadership positions."

"Following a significant period of change at Vodafone, Pilar is joining us as we continue to drive operational excellence across the Group," Della Valle said.

López expressed enthusiasm about joining Vodafone, stating she is "excited to work with Margherita and the team as Vodafone continues to improve the service to its customers, further simplify operations across the Group, and deliver sustainable growth in free cash flow."

Jean-François van Boxmeer, Vodafone Group Chair, noted that López’s appointment followed "an extensive and rigorous international search" and cited her strong experience in finance, telecoms, and technology sectors across Europe.

The announcement comes amid Vodafone’s ongoing transformation efforts.
