CleanTech Lithium appoints Paul Atherton as Jersey resident director

JERSEY - CleanTech Lithium PLC (AIM:CTL), an exploration and development company focused on sustainable lithium projects in Chile, has appointed Paul Atherton as a Jersey resident independent non-executive director, effective immediately.

Atherton, a Chartered Accountant with a geology background from Imperial College London, will also serve as Chairman of the Audit and Risk Committee. His career includes positions at Deloitte & Touche and BDO Stoy Hayward before spending 18 years at Heritage Oil, where he rose from Chief Financial Officer to Chief Executive Officer. Heritage Oil was previously listed on the London Stock Exchange and was a FTSE 250 member.

Following his time at Heritage Oil, Atherton has developed interests as an angel investor and board director across natural resources, technology, and healthcare sectors.

Steve Kesler, Chairman of CleanTech Lithium, said: "I am delighted that Paul is joining our Board as he brings the essential financial expertise and knowledge of the Jersey regulatory environment to ensure sound financial governance and decision making is continued following the recent Board restructuring."

With Atherton’s appointment, the company’s board now consists of three directors: Independent Non-Executive Chairman Steve Kesler, Independent Non-Executive Director Paul Atherton, and CEO Ignacio Mehech. This composition complies with the QCA Code on Board composition.

CleanTech Lithium states it is advancing lithium projects in Chile using Direct Lithium Extraction technology, which the company says allows for lithium removal from brine with higher recoveries and without extensive evaporation pond construction.
