Rivian Automotive (NASDAQ:RIVN) has secured a major agreement with SiriusXM (SIRI), introducing the audio system to the R1T and R1S electric vehicles from 2024 onwards.
The partnership between Rivian and SiriusXM was unveiled on Monday.
SiriusXM's radio platform will be seamlessly integrated into Rivian’s vehicle software, providing easy-to-use and intuitive control for users.
Additionally, all Rivian owners will receive a complimentary three-month trial of SiriusXM's extensive audio entertainment package as part of this agreement.
“Rivian is a disruptor in the automotive industry and has an exceptional lineup of software-forward electric vehicles that deliver to their owners a truly tailored experience in a variety of different ways,” said SiriusXM CCO, Joe Verbrugge.
“We are excited to launch SiriusXM with Rivian and to meet listeners everywhere they are and everywhere they want to go.”
After Rivian's announcement, the responses from owners are divided regarding the partnership. Some advocate for Rivian to prioritize integrating Apple CarPlay, a highly sought-after feature across various car brands that hasn't been incorporated into their vehicles yet.
Others express enthusiasm for the new feature, highlighting its ease of integration through an OTA (Over-The-Air) update. They appreciate the seamless integration of the software directly into the vehicle, foreseeing its user-friendly nature once implemented.
“At Rivian, we’re committed to enhancing the driving experience and evolving our vehicles over time through software updates,” added Rivian Sr. Vice President, Wassym Bensaid.
“We collaborated with SiriusXM on a digital integration that provides a seamless user experience and will be available to owners with a simple over-the-air update.”
Shares of RIVN and SIRI are down 2.11% and 1.50%, respectively in afternoon trading on Tuesday.
