The Trimmed Mean Consumer Price Index (CPI) reports the change in the price of goods and services purchased by Australian consumers, excluding the most volatile 30% of items. The change is measured relative to the prior quarter. The RBA watches this measure closely as it better reflects the underlying trend in inflation.

A reading that is stronger than forecast is generally supportive (bullish) for the AUD, while a weaker than forecast reading is generally negative (bearish) for the AUD.
