SBF Surviving on Bread and Water; “Good,” Says Crypto Twitter

  • Sam Bankman-Fried’s attorneys claim he is living under horrid conditions and is not allowed access to his medications.
  • “There is no way for him to effectively prepare for his defense,” said Christian Everdell, Bankman-Fried’s attorney.
  • The former CEO of FTX was denied bail last month for witness tampering.

Sam Bankman Fried (SBF) has made headlines yet again with a new set of legal tantrums. The disgraced tech billionaire’s attorneys are now claiming that he is surviving on bread, water, peanut butter, and what they call “flesh diet.”

Advocates have filed a formal complaint with the magistrate alleging that SBF’s dietary preferences are not being considered. They have added that his disrupted diet has rendered him unable to prepare for trial.

The lawyers have also asked the court to grant SBF access to computers, a proper diet, and medication to help him prepare for his upcoming trial on October 3. Bankman-Fried’s legal team raised grievances about his access to Adderall, a drug used for ADHD, several times since his arrest.

Bankman-Fried was denied bail earlier this month as he was found to be influencing and in some cases threatening witnesses. He had released diary entries of his former colleague and girlfriend Caroline Ellison to the press, and this was construed as a malicious attempt to silence Ellison and prevent her from appearing at the trial as a witness.

In their plea to the judge, Christian Everdell, Bankman-Fried’s attorney said, “There is no way for him to effectively prepare for his defense.” Judge Sarah Netbrun responded to these grievances, saying that she would consider the medication and diet requests but would not overrule the previous rulings restricting access to computers.

FTX’s disastrous end had for months been unfolding in the public sphere, allowing the crypto community to watch Bankman-Fried’s every move. This latest update, like many others, has not gone well with the community. “The SBF drama continues … Rich people problems,” said one user on Twitter. “Good! He could go on a hunger strike,” said another. It is apparent the community harbors no sympathy for the once-trusted crypto leader.
