GLOBAL MARKETS
Asian shares extended gains on Thursday and U.S. stock
futures jumped after China said it will hold trade talks
with the United States in early October, raising hopes they
can de-escalate their trade war before it inflicts further

Oil prices rose on Thursday, rebounding from earlier losses,

SOUTH AFRICA MARKETS
South Africa's rand rose to a four-week high on Wednesday
backed by a better-than-expected jump in second-quarter
growth and improved risk sentiment globally, brushing off
concerns over anti-immigrant protests. PETROLEUM
A U.S. judge on Wednesday rejected Exxon Mobil (NYSE:XOM) Corp's
XOM.N and Royal Dutch Shell Plc's RDSa.L effort to
revive a $1.8 billion arbitration award against Nigeria's
state-run oil company, which stemmed from a dispute over a
1993 contract to extract oil near the African country's

The Kenyan shilling KES= weakened against the dollar on
Wednesday due to excess liquidity in the local money market
and increased dollar demand from oil importers, traders

Work on a pipeline to export Ugandan oil has been suspended,
an industry official said on Wednesday, after Tullow Oil's
TLW.L plan to sell a stake in the project to France's
