GLOBAL MARKETS
Asian shares slumped on Tuesday as fears about a drawn out
Sino-U.S. trade war, protests in Hong Kong and a crash in
Argentina's peso currency drove investors to safe harbours
like bonds, gold, and the Japanese yen.

WORLD OIL PRICES
Oil prices slipped on Tuesday, offsetting narrow gains in
the previous session, as sluggish demand forecasts countered
expectations that major producers would prop up oil prices
by limiting crude oil output.

SOUTH AFRICA MARKETS
South Africa's rand weakened on Monday, stretching losses to
a new 11-month low as political uncertainty and a bleak
economic outlook was worsened by uncertainty over the
chances of a resolution to the trade standoff between
Beijing and Washington.
MARKETS
The Kenyan shilling KES= firmed against the dollar on
Friday supported by inflows from offshore investors buying
government debt amid excess liquidity in the local money
market. Markets were closed on Friday for a public holiday.
KCB GROUP
KCB Group KCB.NR, Kenya's biggest bank by assets, will boost
its investments in South Sudan, a senior company executive
said on Thursday, adding that the lender also aims to nearly
double its individual customers by the end of next year.
REPUBLIC OIL
An oil discovery in Republic of Congo could produce nearly 1
million barrels of oil per day, a company involved said on
Monday, possibly quadrupling the nation's output and
propelling it into the same league as Africa's largest
producers.
GLENCORE
Zambia's mining ministry has asked Glencore GLEN.L
subsidiary Mopani Copper Mines (MCM) to rescind its decion
to close two shafts at its Nkana site.
