GLOBAL MARKETS
Asian shares crept toward five-month peaks on Monday as
investors wagered the U.S. earnings season would see most
companies beat forecasts given expectations had been lowered
so far by coronavirus lockdowns. MKTS/GLOB OIL PRICES
Oil slipped in early Asian trade on Monday as traders eyed
an OPEC technical meeting this week which is expected to
recommend an easing in supply cuts that have been propping

SOUTH AFRICA MARKETS
South Africa's rand weakened early on Friday as global
sentiment over chances of a quick coronavirus recovery
soured, with infections continuing to surge amid downbeat
economic data. KENYA MARKETS
The Kenyan shilling KES= was under pressure on Friday from
merchandise importers and multinational companies buying
dollars to meet obligations following the phased reopening
of the economy, traders said. NIGERIA BUDGET
Nigeria's President Muhammadu Buhari has signed into law the
10.8 trillion naira ($28.38 billion) revised 2020 budget
passed by lawmakers last month, a presidential aide said on
Friday. MALI POLITICS
Mali's opposition coalition said security forces detained
two leaders of anti-government protests and raided its
headquarters on Saturday following violent demonstrations
against the president in the capital.
NIGERIA CORRUPTION
Nigeria has suspended the head of its anti-corruption body,
the attorney general's office said on Friday, days after the
attorney general accused the agency of diverting funds that
had been recovered during investigations into graft.
ETHIOPIA POLITICS
Ethiopian authorities said on Friday they had arrested two
suspects over the killing of a popular political singer,
whose death last week sparked protests in which 166 people
