Investing.com-- Jeff Bezos and Blue Origin are seeking to capitalize on a growing rift between President Donald Trump and Elon Musk, The Wall Street Journal reported on Tuesday, citing people familiar with the matter.
According to the report, Blue Origin founder Bezos spoke with Trump at least twice in June, while the firm’s CEO Dave Limp met with White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles.
The outreach comes after Trump’s public fallout with Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) CEO Musk, a top adviser and founder of rival space firm SpaceX.
Blue Origin executives have reportedly pushed for more government contracts, seeing Trump’s break with Musk as an opening. In recent meetings, Trump expressed a desire to see a crewed moon mission during his presidency, the WSJ reported.
The rivalry between Musk and Bezos has intensified as SpaceX has outpaced Blue Origin in government deals. In April, SpaceX secured a $5.9 billion Space Force contract, while Blue Origin received $2.4 billion, the report stated.
Despite previous tensions, Bezos has improved relations with Trump, even inviting him to his upcoming wedding. Meanwhile, Musk has privately warned Trump that his businesses could suffer over political disagreements, the report added.
