He joined Guinness Atkinson™ as an analyst in May 2007. Mr. Riley worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP from 2002 to 2007 having qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2003. Mr. Riley graduated from Cambridge University with a Masters in Geography in 1999.

Biography Tim Guinness is the founder and Chief Investment Officer of Guinness Asset Management and Guinness Atkinson Asset Management, our sister US business. He has over 35 years’ investment experience. He founded Guinness Flight Global Asset Management Ltd in 1987 and was CEO (or joint CEO) from 1987 to 1999 and a portfolio manager of the Global Equity Fund. After Investec acquired Guinness Flight in 1998, he was Chairman of the company during the transition into Investec, as well as lead manager of the Investec Global Energy Fund. In 2003 he left Investec to set up Guinness Asset Management, which was appointed the outsource manager of Investec Global Energy Fund until 2008. Tim graduated from Cambridge University with a degree in engineering. Mr. Guinness graduated from Cambridge University in 1968 with an MA in Engineering and an MSc in Management Science from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1970.

Biography Dr. Ian Mortimer is a co-manager of SmartETFs Dividend Builder ETF (and a co-manager of the predecessor mutual fund since March 2012), and Guinness AtkinsonTM Global Innovators Fund (since May 2011). He joined Guinness AtkinsonTM as an analyst in December 2006. From September 2003 to December 2006, Dr. Mortimer completed a PhD in experimental physics at the University of Oxford. Dr. Mortimer graduated from University College London with a Masters in Physics in June 2003. He has completed the IMC and is a CFA charterholder.
Tom Nelson Head, Thematic Equity 2008 2012
Biography Tom is Head of Thematic Equity within the Multi-Asset team at Ninety One. He is co-portfolio manager of the Energy and Natural Resources strategies, which invest directly in equities in these sectors. Tom is part of the Sustainability leadership team and was instrumental in the launch of the Global Environment strategy. Tom joined the firm in 2012 and before that spent seven years at Guinness Asset Management where he was part of the team that managed the outsourced Investec Global Energy Fund from 2005 to 2008 and was subsequently co-portfolio manager of the Guinness Global Energy Fund from 2008 onwards. Tom holds the UKSIP Level III Certificate in Investment Management and an MA in Modern Languages (French and German) from the University of Oxford.
