Biography | Tom is the chief executive officer (CEO) of FAF Advisors and president of First American Funds. He was appointed CEO in 2000 and orchestrated the successful merger of the asset management divisions of U.S. Bancorp and Firstar. Previously, Tom served in senior leadership roles at Piper Jaffray and as a member of the management committee that brought the firm's equity group to national prominence. Biography | John serves in a strategic role as head of real assets for Nuveen Asset Management, responsible for the investment process and performance of the firm’s equity real estate, debt real estate, global infrastructure and real asset income strategies. John is the lead manager of the firm’s Real Estate Debt Strategy and co-portfolio manager of the Real Estate Securities Strategy, which invests primarily in equity real estate investment trusts (REITs). He also co-manages the Global Infrastructure Strategy, which invests in listed infrastructure companies from around the world, and the Real Asset Income Strategy, which invests in income-generating debt and equity securities from both the real estate and infrastructure segments. As a company spokesperson on real estate issues, John is featured in local and national media outlets throughout the year. John has also appeared on a number of business programs for CNBC TV’s “Squawk Box” and Bloomberg TV. John’s background features a unique blend of nearly four decades of experience in public policy, urban planning, real estate finance and valuation, and portfolio management. In 1973, he began working for the city of St. Paul’s finance department, serving in a number of roles in property assessment and valuation, planning and economic development. A decade later, John joined the financial services industry as a mortgage banker at Norwest Mortgage and then as a public finance investment banker focused on housing and government projects for Miller & Schroeder Financial. He also worked for the Minneapolis Community Development Agency managing several of its finance departments including the commercial real estate and housing revenue bond programs.
