Biography | Middleton joined Investec Asset Management in 2010, and is currently a portfolio manager on the Investec Growth Equity strategy. Richard Middleton started his investment career at Gold Field's Minerals Economic division as a mining analyst. After which he completed an MBA at Wits, and embarked on a career in asset management as a precious metals analyst with Rand Merchant Bank Asset Management in 1998. He joined Liberty Asset Management as an Industrial Analyst and Assistant Portfolio Manager in 1999, and left to take over the management of the STANLIB Capital Growth Fund in 2002. In 2003 the Fund received the Standard and Poor’s award for best performing fund in the growth category over one year. Middleton headed up Stanlib's growth franchise for 3 years, including management of the growth unit trust for 7 years. In addition, Richard was responsible for a number of segregated clients, their quantitative unit trust as well as a market neutral hedge fund. Richard holds a degree in Metallurgical Engineering and an MBA from the University of the Witwatersrand. | ||

Biography | Imtiaz qualified as a chartered accountant and has more than 23 years investment experience. He has held numerous senior executive roles during his career. As executive director and head of third-party assets at Stanlib, he headed a team of portfolio managers overseeing unit trust and pension fund assets in excess of R50 billion, including personally managing R11 billion. After leaving Stanlib, Imtiaz joined Investment Solutions, the largest and most prominent multi-manager in South Africa, as CIO (South Africa). More recently he executed a MBO from Macquarie where he acquired the Alternative Strategy business from them in a mutually beneficial transaction (renamed Forte Alternative Strategies). Imtiaz joined Mergence Investment Managers in 2012 as Porfolio Manager and brings with him substantial experience in macro strategies, asset allocation and a deep understanding of the numerous companies that are listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange. | ||

Biography | Chairman of Peregrine Capital and an Executive Director of Peregrine Capital since its inception in July 1998. Clive has 22 years experience in the investment industry and previously spent 10 years at Liberty Asset Management most recently as Executive Director and Head of Research. Prior to his appointment as Head of Research, Clive was involved principally in fund management where his responsibilities included a number of Liberty's most prestigious and largest clients such as SA Breweries and Unilever. During this period he was directly responsible for managing funds with a market value of approximately R6 billion. |
