TSX up after index logs fresh record high close
Investing.com -- OpenAI is acquiring experimentation platform Statsig for $1.1 billion, according to the company’s blog post on Tuesday.
As part of the deal, Statsig founder and CEO Vijaye Raji will join OpenAI as Chief Technology Officer of Applications, reporting to CEO of Applications Fidji Simo.
Statsig provides A/B testing, feature flagging, and real-time decisioning services for companies, including OpenAI. The platform has been used internally by OpenAI for product experimentation and development processes.
Raji, who spent a decade in consumer engineering roles at Meta before founding Statsig, will oversee product engineering for ChatGPT and Codex in his new role. His responsibilities will span core systems, infrastructure, and integrity functions.
"Vijaye has a remarkable record of building new consumer and B2B products and systems at scale," Simo said in the announcement. "His leadership will help turn that progress into safe applications that empower people with many new tools to improve their lives, help companies increase their impact and allow developers to build faster and better products."
Following the acquisition, Statsig employees will become OpenAI employees while the platform continues operating independently from its Seattle office. The company stated it will maintain service continuity for existing Statsig customers and take a measured approach to future integration efforts.
OpenAI said the acquisition will strengthen its ability to accelerate experimentation across its Applications organization as it scales ChatGPT and develops new applications for consumers and businesses.
