In a recent TechWire interview, Renz Chong, the CEO of NFT startup BreederDAO, explained why he believes AI technologies like Midjourney have the potential to revolutionize the creative process in metaverse projects.
When asked about how AI was improving the creative process for those seeking to build interesting characters and worlds in the metaverse, Chong pointed out that AI was effectively changing the space in two ways.
The first way, according to Chong, was how AI enables almost anyone to become a creator. Enthusiasts, even those without much training or technical know-how can now create characters, digital assets, in-game objects, avatars, and even games.
The second aspect was how AI was making the content creation cycle much faster. Elaborating on this point, Chong explained, “Game designers who used to spend a lot of time creating mockups and demos can now use tools like Midjourney to create the initial layer.”
Chong also added that AI could bridge the gap between 2D and 3D art, creating new possibilities. Chong’s own company has developed AI Skins, a no-code tool that instantly transforms 2D prints into 3D NFTs.
Showcasing other points, Chong explained how AI-powered NPCs enhance gaming by making experiences more personalized. “These NPCs can remember details about players and have tailored conversations, creating a sense of individuality that taps into the same motivations that attract people to horoscopes,” said the CEO.
Chongs company Breeder DAO is, according to the company website, positioned to improve the supply of in-game assets to meet the growing demand of play-to-earn game economies through highly tuned, programmatic asset-generation systems. BreederDAO is now engaged in integrating AI tools into the metaverse, enabling creators to build unique worlds and characters at an accelerated pace.
In related news, Forbes recently reported that some of the major hurdles metaverse creators are currently facing regulatory roadblocks, privacy concerns, and energy costs. Regulatory obstacles appear to be the biggest challenge as, just like in the real world, there is no dearth of crimes in the metaverse.
