  • Duncan Coutts explained the new enhancement of the Cardano blockchain, the Dynamic P2P.
  • Charles Hoskinson tweeted mentioning Coutts’s video, calling the upgrade a crown jewel.
  • Coutts narrated in detail the functioning of the node-to-node protocol, including its benefits.

Charles Hoskinson, the American entrepreneur, and CEO of the leading blockchain platforms Cardano and Input Output Global (IOG), shared a Twitter post earlier today, referring to the video uploaded by Duncan Coutts, Cardano’s IOG Principal Technical Architect, in which he elaborates on Cardano’s new enhancement, the Dynamic P2P.

Notably, Hoskinson commented via his Twitter thread that it’s “great to see Duncan talking about the crown jewel of Cardano’s network stack”, the company’s approach to P2P.

Significantly, in the video the architect explained, in brief, the notion of the network layer, elaborating that it is also called the node-to-node protocol, consisting of three “mini protocols”.

Mainly, Coutts talked about the different roles the Stake Pool Operators (SPOs) fulfill while configuring the nodes, including the production of blocks, being the “block-producer” and relaying the information.

However, he noted that the current topology would undergo some changes when the network is upgraded to Dynamic P2P. While expounding the benefits of the upgrade, Coutts asserted that it would automate the construction of topology; it is the automation of the “way in which the SPO relays connect to each other,” in a couple of ways.

Interestingly, Coutts assured that the update would increase efficiency, giving more choices. He stated:

Automated procedure as compared to what people might do manually, gives us a really good result in terms of the overall time it takes for blocks to be broadcast over the network.

Further, the IOG architect presented a brief history of the Cardano network, moving over the various changes it has gone through since the beginning of its development in 2015.
