Investing.com -- U.S. President Donald Trump announced Friday that he has ordered two nuclear submarines to be positioned in strategic regions near Russia in response to statements made by Dmitry Medvedev, the former President of Russia who now serves as Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation.
Trump made the announcement through his Truth Social platform, describing Medvedev’s recent remarks as "highly provocative."
"I have ordered two Nuclear Submarines to be positioned in the appropriate regions, just in case these foolish and inflammatory statements are more than just that," Trump wrote in his post.
The U.S. President emphasized the importance of careful communication in international relations, noting that "Words are very important, and can often lead to unintended consequences."
Trump concluded his statement by expressing hope that "this will not be one of those instances."
