Investing.com-- U.S. President-elect Donald Trump revealed his plans for his first day in office and beyond, and promised sweeping changes ranging from immigration reforms to economic policies, in a weekend interview with NBC News.

Trump pledged to issue mass pardons for individuals convicted in the January 6 Capitol attack, claiming many have faced harsh treatment.

In an NBC News’ “Meet the Press” interview, Trump also reaffirmed his intention to deport millions of undocumented immigrants, beginning with convicted criminals.

Addressing families with mixed immigration statuses, Trump stated he would prioritize keeping them together, even if it meant deporting entire families.

On economic policy, Trump vowed to impose tariffs on imports from major trading partners and extend tax cuts enacted during his first term. However, he admitted uncertainty about whether these measures would increase costs for American families, stating, "I can’t guarantee tomorrow.”

Trump said in the interview that he will maintain social security and medicare without raising eligibility ages. He also signaled openness to raising the federal minimum wage, calling the current $7.25 per hour rate “a very low number.”

Regarding "Dreamers", individuals brought to the U.S. illegally as children, Trump expressed willingness to collaborate with Democrats on a legislative solution allowing them to stay. However, he reiterated plans to end birthright citizenship, potentially requiring constitutional amendments.

On foreign policy, Trump highlighted a potential reduction in U.S. military aid to Ukraine, and said he would not commit to keeping the U.S. in North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).

Promising a more inclusive tone, Trump described his forthcoming inaugural address as a message of “unity,” contrasting it with his 2017 “American carnage” speech. “No American carnage,” he assured, in the interview with NBC.

The interview marks a preview of Trump's agenda as he prepares to assume office for a second term on January 20.
