GLOBAL MARKETS
U.S. stock futures and Asian shares rose on Monday after the
United States dropped its threat to impose tariffs on Mexico
in a deal to combat illegal migration from Central America,
and as weak U.S. jobs data raised hopes for U.S. interest

WORLD OIL PRICES
Oil prices rose on Monday after Saudi Arabia said producer
club OPEC and Russia should keep supplies restricted at
current levels, and in relief that the United States
withdrew a tariff threat against Mexico, removing a cloud

SOUTH AFRICA MARKETS
South Africa's rand firmed in afternoon trade on Friday
thanks to a weakening U.S. dollar, but the local currency
was on track to end the week on a weaker footing after a row
over the central bank's mandate rattled investors, while
stocks also gained. MARKETS
The Kenyan shilling KES= was firm against the dollar on
Friday with inflows from diaspora remittances outweighing
dollar demand from merchandise importers, traders
said. POLITICS
Ethiopia's prime minister on Friday urged Sudan's military
rulers and civilian opposition to exercise "bravery" in
trying to agree on a transition to democracy after the worst
bloodshed since the overthrow of President Omar
al-Bashir. TELECOMS
Ethiopia's parliament on Monday will approve a law covering
the liberalisation of the telecommunications sector, a
parliament spokesman said, opening up one of Africa's last
remaining state-controlled telecoms markets. ECONOMY
Zimbabwe must have a new currency by the end of the year,
President Emmerson Mnangagwa said on Friday, arguing this
would help stabilise prices after inflation hit a 10-year
