EVENTS:
GHANA - The government is scheduled to present the 2021
budget to parliament.
KENYA - President Uhuru Kenyatta is scheduled to address the
nation on the coronavirus crisis.

GLOBAL MARKETS
Asian shares pushed higher on Friday after U.S. President
Joe Biden signed a $1.9 trillion stimulus bill into law, and
as a retreat in bond yields overnight eased global concerns
about rising inflation.

WORLD OIL PRICES
Brent crude prices eased on Friday but hovered near $70 a
barrel as production cuts by major oil producers constrained
supply, with optimism about a recovery in demand for the
resource in the second half of the year also lending
support.

AFRICA CURRENCIES
Kenya's currency is likely to firm against the U.S. dollar
next week as Zambia's and Uganda's soften. Nigeria and
Tanzania's currencies are seen holding steady.
AFRICA MARKETS
South Africa's rand gained for a third session in a row on
Thursday, powering to a new one-week best as
weaker-than-expected U.S. inflation data halted an advance
in Treasury yields and fuelled appetite for risk assets.
MARKETS
The Kenyan shilling KES= was stable on Thursday, mainly
due to lack of robust demand for dollars from importers as
the economy continues to grapple with the impact of the
COVID-19 pandemic.
PRESIDENT
Tanzania's main opposition leader said on Thursday that
President John Magufuli, an avowed COVID-19 sceptic out of
public view for nearly two weeks, is in India receiving
medical treatment for the virus and is in a serious
condition.
VACCINES
Mozambique expects to receive 1.7 million more doses of
COVID-19 vaccines by May from various bilateral sources, its
prime minister said on Thursday.
