Previously, he was Director of Quantitative Research at Lord Abbett & Co. and was responsible for portfolio construction simulation and quantitative stock selection. At Deutsche, where he managed over $10 billion in assets, he was the lead Portfolio Manager for the U.S. Large Cap Core Funds, including Scudder’s flagship Growth & Income Fund. Before joining Alger in November 2004, John served as Vice President at Janney Montgomery Scott, LLC and as Portfolio Manager of Whitehall Asset Management's $2.5 billion of fixed-income institutional and retail assets. During his tenure at Whitehall, John was responsible for credit selection, portfolio structure and duration determinations across all fixed-income sectors. Previously he was Portfolio Manager at UBS Global Asset Management, where he managed $4 billion of the firm's institutional fixed-income assets. He also spent five years at Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. as Portfolio Analyst and later as Portfolio Manager/Trader responsible for $1 billion of short duration assets.
