Biography | Francisco Romero is an experienced investment professional having designed and managed a diverse range of funds, including Index funds, ETF, target funds, structured funds and quantitative funds. Francisco is Head of ETF, Index and Overseas Capital Protected Funds for BBVA Asset Management. Mr. Romero is responsible for the portfolio management of BBVA's Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) and Index mutual funds in all countries and Capital protected funds in Latam. He is also in charge of designing the quantitative hedging strategies followed by all passive investment teams (including Spain). Prior to this role, Francisco served as risk manager at BBVA where he designed and implemented both quantitative measures and qualitative control procedures of risk across the Asset Management, Insurance and Alternative Investment units of BBVA. Francisco holds a Master in Risk from the HTI Escuela de Finanzas of Madrid and a Master of Science in Actuarial and Financial Science from the University of Extremadura in Cáceres, Spain. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Financial Risk Manager (FRM), Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) and a member of the CFA Society of Spain and the CAIA Iberia Chapter.
