Biography James R. McBride, CFA®, joined Scout in 2009. Prior to joining Scout, Mr. McBride co-founded and served as Vice President/portfolio manager of TrendStar Advisors, LLC from 2003-2009. Mr. McBride was also previously employed by Kornitzer Capital Management, Inc. as a Vice President and research analyst from 2000 until he left to co-found TrendStar Advisors, LLC in 2003. Mr. McBride began his investment career in 1991. Prior to joining Kornitzer Capital, Mr. McBride served in a number of increasingly responsible positions with Hewlett-Packard and subsidiary companies of Hewlett-Packard from 1989-2000. Mr. McBride earned a Bachelor of Science, with honors, in Mechanical Engineering from Wichita State University and an MBA in Finance from Indiana University. Mr. McBride is also a graduate of the General Electric Manufacturing Management Program for Manufacturing Engineers. He is a CFA® charterholder and a member of the CFA® Society Kansas City as well as the CFA® Institute.

Biography Thomas is the Lead Portfolio Manager of the Scout Small Cap Equity Strategy. Mr. Laming joined Scout in 2009, when Scout acquired the advisory business of TrendStar Advisors, LLC. Mr. Laming served as President and Chief Investment Officer of TrendStar Advisors, LLC, a firm that he founded, from 2003- 2009. Prior to that, Mr. Laming served as Senior Vice President and Portfolio Manager with Kornitzer Capital Management, Inc., (KCM) in Shawnee Mission, Kansas, having joined that firm in January 1993. While at KCM, Mr. Laming served as Chief Equity Strategist for the Buffalo Mutual Funds and was co-lead manager of all equity mutual funds at Buffalo, including the Buffalo Small Cap, Mid Cap, Large Cap, USA Global and Science & Technology funds. Prior to KCM, Mr. Laming served as a Senior Engineer at Martin Marietta in Denver, and served as a Staff Engineer with TRW at the Johnson Space Center in Houston and at TRW’s Space Park Facility in Redondo Beach. As an engineer, Mr. Laming’s work dealt primarily with spacecraft design. Mr. Laming also worked as a technology analyst with Waddell & Reed in Overland Park, Kansas. Mr. Laming is a Senior Member of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics and holds a master’s in business administration from Indiana University, a master ‘s of science in Aeronautics and Astronautics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a bachelor’s of science, with highest distinction, in Physics from the University of Kansas.
Jason J. Votruba Portfolio Manager 2002 2013
Biography Mr. Votruba is Co-Portfolio Manager of the Scout Mid Cap Equity strategy, including the Scout Mid Cap Fund and previously he served as a member of the small cap equity team. Prior to joining the firm in 2002, he worked as an analyst within the Equity Research and Investment Banking divisions at George K. Baum & Company from 2000 to 2002 and Commerce Bank from 1998 to 2000. He has 21 years of financial industry experience. Mr. Votruba earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Kansas State University. He is a CFA charterholder and a member of the CFA Society Kansas City, as well as the CFA Institute.
David R. Bagby Portfolio Manager 2001 2006
Biography Bagby has served as a portfolio manager for UMB since July of 2001. He joined UMB in 1993 and has been employed by Scout Investment Advisors since May 2001. Bagby has over 30 years of investment management experience. Bagby holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
William Greiner CIO 2000 2003
Biography Greiner is the chief investment officer of UMB and Scout Investment Advisors, Inc. From September 2003 to June 2004, Greiner managed private accounts with the firm. Greiner was the chief investment officer at UMB from 1999 to September 2003. Prior to joining the firm, he managed investments at Northern Trust Company. Greiner holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
David B. Anderson Senior Vice President 1986 2000
Biography Mr. Anderson re-joined Financial Counselors, Inc. in 2006 and currently serves as the lead portfolio manager for the Value Equity Strategy. He is also a member of the Value Equity Investment Committee. Mr. Anderson earned his bachelor’s of science degree in economics from the University of Missouri, Columbia in 1969 and his master’s degree in finance from Central Missouri State University in 1972. Mr. Anderson has been managing client accounts on a discretionary basis for 39 years and he has been working in the financial industry for 42 years. He began his investment career in 1969 with Farmland and joined H.O. Peet & Company/FCI the first time in 1972 as an analyst. In 1975, Dave joined Commerce Trust as vice president of marketing. In 1979 he moved to UMB Bank and in 1990 became the executive vice president in charge of the entire trust investment division. From 2000-2006 Dave was the head of investments at Gold Trust Company. Dave is a member and former board member of the Kansas City Society of Chartered Financial Analysts and is a member of the CFA Institute.
