Investing.com -- U.S. President Donald Trump has called for Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy to meet, suggesting there could be consequences if they fail to do so.
"We’ll see what happens over week or two, at that point I’ll step in," Trump said on Monday, indicating he might be present for such a meeting between the two leaders, though he added that he "may not" attend.
In a separate development, Trump told European leaders during a call on Thursday that Europe must stop purchasing Russian oil, according to a White House official.
During the same call, Trump emphasized that European leaders must place economic pressure on China "for funding Russia’s war efforts," the official said.
