LONDON - EQTEC plc (AIM:EQT) has received new funding to advance its methanation projects in France, according to a press release issued Wednesday.
The company, which provides syngas technology for converting waste into energy and biofuels, has extended its collaboration with French natural gas distributor GRDF, a subsidiary of ENGIE.
EQTEC received an additional €50,000 in private funding last week for its Green Gas Provence project in Istres, France. This 5-tonnes-per-day project had previously secured funding in September, with GRDF contributing €177,000 for pre-FEED engineering work.
In a separate development, an EQTEC-led consortium won €400,000 in private funding from GRDF following a competitive R&D tender. This funding will support the deployment of an integrated methanation system at EQTEC’s demonstration site at the University of Lorraine in Épinal.
The consortium includes AlphaSynt GmbH, the Paul Scherrer Institute, and LERMAB/ELVEA Energy at the University of Lorraine. The project will install methanation equipment at the demo facility during 2026, followed by a six-month test program to demonstrate the upgrading of syngas into renewable methane for injection into the local gas network.
EQTEC expects to receive approximately €150,000 from this second funding award. The company will provide engineering services, system integration support, and on-site technical assistance throughout the program.
James Parsons, CEO of EQTEC, stated in the press release that despite "challenging conditions for EQTEC and for clean-tech companies," the company is making progress in "winning tenders, securing private funding, and moving towards commercial deployment."
