Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac shares tumble after conservatorship comments
LONDON - Insurance and asset management group Prudential plc (LSE:LON:PRU) announced Tuesday the appointment of Dr. Guido Fürer as a Non-executive Director with immediate effect, while longtime board member Amy Yip will retire on October 31 after completing six years of service.
Fürer, who brings over three decades of financial services experience, will serve on both the Audit and Risk Committees. His career includes 25 years at Swiss Re (OTC:SSREY) Group, where he spent 11 years as Group Chief Investment Officer and member of the Global Executive Committee, overseeing the Global Asset Management division.
The new appointee previously gained exposure to Prudential’s key markets while serving as a non-executive director at FWD Group from 2018 to 2022, where he chaired the Group Risk Committee. He currently holds a board position at Baloise Group, chairing its Risk & Investment Committee.
"Guido brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise, including in respect of asset management, insurance and asset-liability management, from both a distinguished executive career and from his global board experience," said Shriti Vadera, Chair of Prudential.
Yip, who joined the board in September 2019, has been a member of the Audit Committee since March 2021, having previously served on the Remuneration Committee.
Fürer will receive the standard annual Non-executive Director fee of $125,000, plus $39,000 for each committee membership. He has also joined the board of Prudential’s wholly owned subsidiary, Prudential Corporation Asia Limited.
Prudential provides life and health insurance and asset management across 24 markets in Asia and Africa, with dual primary listings on the Hong Kong and London stock exchanges.
The announcement was made in a company press release.
