‘Let’s Not Start BS Season’: Critic Dismisses XRP Integration Misinfo

  • Critic Adam Cochran challenges the claim of Roblox integrating XRP as payment.
  • BitPay revealed users can pay XRP for Xsolla games like Smite and Roblox.
  • While Roblox gamers can pay with XRP via BitPay, it does not mean the gaming platform itself has supported XRP.

The well-known crypto critic Adam Cochran has recently challenged a bullish sentiment making rounds in the XRP community about an XRP payment integration. In a recent tweet, Cochran countered a report claiming that the gaming platform Roblox has integrated the fifth largest crypto, XRP, as a payment method.

The report came following an announcement from the prominent crypto payment service provider BitPay. BitPay tweeted that Xsolla, a site builder that allows developers to create pay-to-play games, now supports XRP via its payment gateway. This enables users to pay XRP for Xsolla games like Smite and Roblox.

“You can use your favorite cryptocurrency to buy, play, and enjoy gaming like never before,” the statement read.

However, an account on X (formerly Twitter) reported the notification from Bitbay as Roblox integrating XRP as a payment method into its gaming service. This creative interpretation of BitPay’s tweet didn’t go down well with the crypto critic Adam Cochran, who fired back.

Cochran argued that the notification from BitPay does not indicate that Roblox directly supports XRP. He clarified that Roblox merely supports BitPay, among many other payment methods, and that BitPay supports XRP as a payment option.

Cochran added, “Let’s not start the bullshit season,” given that the XRP Army misconstrued the original import of the BitPay-Roblox crypto payment move as one bullish development specific to XRP.

In other words, while Roblox gamers can now pay with XRP via BitPay, it does not imply the gaming platform itself has supported XRP.

Besides, the critic lamented the laborious Know Your Customer (KYC) standard that BitPay adopted for users of its platform. “BitPay requires you to complete over-the-top KYC even as the customer making the payment,” Cochran argued.
