Expressing his excitement about XRP being removed from the latest list of SEC securities on Coingecko, Pro-XRP lawyer John Deaton tweeted, “Today: Not on the list: XRP.” The advocate compared this development to how it began three years ago when the SEC claimed that Ripple sold over 14.6 billion units of digital asset “security.”

Earlier this week, Coingecko, the crypto price tracking platform, opened a list of tokens listed as securities by the SEC. There are a total of 48 tokens on this list, including BNB, ADA, SOL, TRX, MATIC, TON, BUSD, ATOM, FIL, ICP, NEAR, ALGO, SAND, AXS, MANA, FLOW, CHZ, and BTT.
Ripple’s CTO David “JoelKatz” Schwartz responded positively to this admission, saying, “Not on the list: Orange groves Live beavers Warehouse receipts for whisky casks XRP. This is a humorous reference to some of the other items the SEC had once tried to bring under its regulatory control.
Earlier this month, Deaton revealed that he believes the senior officials of the SEC were split on what to do regarding the outcome of the case. Numerous crypto lawyers and experts in the field are still speculating about the SEC’s future actions and about the possibility of an appeal.
Advocate James Murphy claimed that the SEC could file an interlocutory appeal in the controversial case. Meanwhile, PolySign CEO Jack McDonald, argued that because the ramifications of this case could be bad for the SEC, they could try to box XRP and say that the XRP ruling was very specific and not meant to include the broader ecosystem.
At press time, CoinMarketCap indicated that XRP traded at $0.6477 after it had gained 3.08% over the past day. With a market cap of $34,173,024,666, XRP occupies the fifth position on CoinMarketCap’s list of tokens.
