S&P 500 falls on pressure from retail stocks, weak jobless claims
Investing.com -- Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated on Wednesday that discussing security issues without Russia’s involvement is a "road to nowhere," while expressing support for reliable security guarantees for Ukraine.
Lavrov claimed the United States has gained "an increasingly clear understanding of the root causes" of the Ukraine crisis. He noted positively that the current U.S. administration does not support continuing the war in Ukraine.
The Russian diplomat pointed to the Istanbul Agreement of 2022 as a "good example" of reliable security guarantees for Ukraine, emphasizing that "questions of security cannot be resolved without Russia."
In his remarks, Lavrov criticized European leaders, saying Russia "didn’t hear any constructive ideas from Europeans at their meetings with Trump." He accused the European Union of making "attempts to aggressively escalate the Ukraine situation" and "clumsy attempts to change Trump’s position on Ukraine."
