Investing.com-- President Donald Trump said on Monday that the Gaza ceasefire should be terminated if Hamas does not release all Israeli hostages by Saturday.
Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, Trump said, if all hostages are not freed by noon on Saturday, he will propose canceling the ceasefire, allowing "all hell break loose."
The ceasefire, in effect for three weeks, has been strained due to ongoing disputes and provocative statements from both sides.
Hamas recently announced an indefinite delay in releasing Israeli hostages, citing violations of the ceasefire agreement. In response, Israel’s defense minister placed the military on alert, warning of a potential resumption of hostilities.
As the Saturday deadline approaches, the international community is closely monitoring the situation, urging all parties to uphold their commitments to prevent further escalation.
Trump has stated that he was determined to acquire and take control of Gaza. He said Palestinians would not have the right to return to the Gaza Strip under his takeover plan.
Trump also mentioned the possibility of withholding aid to Jordan and Egypt if they do not accept Palestinian refugees being relocated from Gaza.
