Asian shares tumbled on Friday after U.S. President
Donald Trump ratcheted up already-heightened tensions with
Beijing by banning U.S. transactions with China's tech giant
Tencent (HK:0700) 0700.HK as well as ByteDance, the owner of

WORLD OIL PRICES
Oil prices slipped on Friday, adding to losses in the
previous session, on worries that fuel demand growth will
drop amid a resurgence of coronavirus cases and as talks
have stalled in the United States on a new stimulus

SOUTH AFRICA MARKETS
South Africa's rand fell to its lowest in 10 weeks on
Thursday, as investors' risk appetite dwindled and the
dollar found some support after data showed U.S. jobless
claims fell slightly in the latest week. AFRICA TELCOM
South African mobile operator MTN Group MTNJ.J will exit
the Middle East in the medium term, it said on Thursday,
starting with the sale of its 75% stake in MTN Syria, as
part of plans to focus on Africa. MARKETS

traders said they were watching portfolio inflows from
investors abroad to gauge its potential

Africa's confirmed cases of COVID-19 have surpassed 1
million, a Reuters tally showed on Thursday, as the disease
began to spread rapidly through a continent whose relative
isolation has so far spared it the worst of the
