GLOBAL MARKETS
Asian stocks hit a record high on Wednesday, as upbeat earnings,
hopes of a large U.S. fiscal stimulus and progress in vaccinations
fanned optimism about a global recovery from the

WORLD OIL PRICES
Oil prices rose again on Wednesday, extending their more than
week-long rally after industry data showing a fall in U.S. crude oil
stocks added to optimism about an expected rise in global fuel

SOUTH AFRICA MARKETS
South Africa's rand strengthened on Tuesday, recovering from a slip
in the previous session, as optimism about the passing of a $1.9
trillion stimulus programme in the United States boosted risk
demand. MARKETS
Kenya's shilling KES= was steady on Tuesday with a bias to
strengthen due to subdued dollar demand and possible inflows from
tea exporters, traders said. VACCINES
Ethiopia has secured nine million doses of COVID-19 vaccines up
until April and hopes to inoculate at least a fifth of its 110
million people by the end of the year, the health minister said on
Tuesday. DEBT
Ethiopia's sovereign dollar bonds dropped nearly 2 cents after Fitch
downgraded the country to CCC, citing the government's plan to make
use of the new G20 common framework to overhaul its debt
burden. OIL
Tullow Oil TLW.L has agreed to sell stakes in some of its
non-operated offshore oilfields in Equatorial Guinea and Gabon to
smaller Africa-focused rival Panoro Energy PANN.OL for up to $180
million, the companies said on Tuesday. AFRICAN REPUBLIC SECURITY
Central African Republic's army, backed by Russian and Rwandan
allies, regained full control on Tuesday of a strategic town near
the western border with Cameroon that had been attacked by rebel
