GLOBAL MARKETS
Asian shares and U.S. stock futures rose on Wednesday as
governments around the world looked poised to boost spending
to help economies recover from the coronavirus and vaccine
roll-out programmes accelerated. MKTS/GLOB
WORLD OIL PRICES
Oil rose in early trade on Wednesday on expectations global
oil stocks will fall back to more normal levels this year and
as U.S. lawmakers moved closer to approving President Joe
Biden's $1.9 trillion COVID-19 aid bill without Republican

SOUTH AFRICA MARKETS
The rand edged up on Tuesday, supported by progress in South
Africa's coronavirus vaccine purchases and an easing of
lockdown restrictions, while stocks slipped
slightly. MARKETS
Kenya's shilling KES= was stable on Tuesday, with dollar
inflows from agricultural exports easily meeting the
available demand from importers, traders said. DEBT
Ethiopia cannot yet say whether private creditors will be
affected by the country's "prudent" plan to overhaul its
debt, a Finance Ministry adviser said on Tuesday, after last
week's announcement led to a sharp drop in Ethiopia's dollar
bond. COVID-19 VACCINE
Uganda has ordered 18 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine
developed by AstraZeneca AZN.L and up to 40% of the shipments
are expected to arrive in the country by the end of March,
the government said on Tuesday. POLITICS
Ugandan opposition leader Bobi Wine and his party said on
Tuesday that around 3,000 of his supporters had been detained
or abducted by state agents since November, when protests
flared over his arrest during a presidential election
campaign. REPUBLIC OF CONGO POLITICS
A majority of senators in the Democratic Republic of Congo
filed a petition to oust the leader of the upper house of
parliament on Tuesday, the latest move by allies of President
