GLOBAL MARKETS
Asian shares eked out gains and U.S. stock futures bounced
back on Friday as hopes of more government spending around
the globe suppressed concerns about rising new coronavirus
case numbers and worsening tensions between Washington and

Oil prices were unchanged on Friday, with trading marked by
growing uncertainty about global recovery in fuel demand as
new COVID-19 cases surge in several countries just as major
producers get set to loosen production curbs.

SOUTH AFRICA MARKETS
South Africa's rand weakened on Thursday, pausing a recent
rally to one-month highs as disappointing Chinese
consumption data dampened investor hopes of a quick economic
recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. KENYA MARKETS
The Kenyan shilling KES= weakened on Thursday due to
strong dollar demand from players in the manufacturing and
energy sectors, traders said. NIGERIA GOLD
Nigeria hopes changes it has made to gold mining regulation
will earn the government $500 million a year in royalties
and taxes and create 250,000 jobs, President Muhammadu
Buhari said on Thursday.
ZAMBIA COPPER
Glencore 's GLEN.L Zambia subsidiary Mopani Copper Mines on
Thursday said the country's mines ministry rejected its
proposal to suspend operations due to the coronavirus
pandemic and low copper prices.
ZIMBABWE ECONOMY
Zimbabwe's economy is expected to shrink by 4.5% this year
owing to the fallout from the COVID-19 pandemic and a brutal
climate change-related drought, the finance minister said on
Thursday.
ETHIOPIA HYDROPOWER DAM
Ethiopia has told Sudan that news reports that it had
started filling the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam
reservoir on the Blue Nile were incorrect, Sudan's Foreign
