Asian shares edged higher on Monday after data showed the

U.S. unemployment rate dropped to the lowest in almost 50

years, easing concerns of a slowdown in the world's largest

WORLD OIL PRICES

Oil prices fell on Monday, extending last week's heavy

losses, with traders fearing the global economic slowdown

will weigh on future oil demand growth while pegging hopes

for a rebound on progress in talks this week on ending the

SOUTH AFRICA MARKETS

South Africa's rand rose on Friday, lifted by improved

appetite for riskier currencies amid steady U.S. jobs

growth. MARKETS

The Kenyan shilling KES= strengthened against the dollar

on Friday supported by inflows from diaspora remittances and

waning dollar demand from the energy sector, traders said.

The Ugandan shilling UGX= was stable on Friday after the

central bank mopped up excess local currency liquidity from

the market, making it slightly more expensive to buy

U.S. energy giant Exxon Mobil will finalise its investment

in Mozambique's lucrative liquefied natural gas fields in a

signing ceremony on Tuesday, the African country's

in the north of the country on Friday, a police spokesman
