South Africa's rand firmed on Monday, lifted by improved
risk appetite globally as a coronavirus vaccine trial was
back on track and investors looked forward to key central
bank meetings locally and abroad. MARKETS
The Nigerian naira NGNFX=BDCN fell by 1.09% to 460 naira
on the black market on Monday after the president last week
told the central bank to stop dollar sales for food and
fertiliser imports. CRYPTO CURRENCIES
Nigeria will begin regulating trade in crypto-token or
crypto-coin investments, the country's financial watchdog
said in a statement on Monday. MARKETS
The Kenyan shilling KES= edged down against the dollar on
Monday, as serious dollar sellers remained on the sidelines,
in spite of demand for the hard currency from

Ghana plans to increase the guaranteed farm gate cocoa price
paid to farmers by at least 21% to 10,000 cedi ($1,745) per
tonne for the next cocoa season starting on Oct. 1, two
