GLOBAL MARKETS
Asian shares and U.S. stock futures regained some footing on
Tuesday following a small bounce in European markets as
investors looked to whether high-flying U.S. tech shares
could recover from their recent rout.

WORLD OIL PRICES
Oil prices fell on Tuesday amid concerns that a possible
rise in COVID-19 cases following the U.S. Labor Day long
weekend, which also marks the end of the peak U.S. driving
season, could squeeze demand for fuel.

SOUTH AFRICA MARKETS
The South African rand fell on Monday, as investors dumped
the currency a day before gross domestic product data
expected to show a massive contraction during the country's
strict coronavirus lockdown.
MARKETS
Nigeria's increase in electricity prices and the
deregulation of petroleum sector were crucial decisions
taken at the start of year, a statement by President
Muhammadu Buhari said on Monday.
MARKETS
The Kenyan shilling KES= was stable against the dollar on
Monday and traders said they were watching the potential
hard currency inflows into an upcoming Treasury bonds
auction.
DIESEL
Kenya plans to start a diesel price stabilisation fund, a
senior energy ministry official said on Monday, the first
attempt by the East African nation to reduce volatility in
the price of the widely used fuel.
DEBT
Uganda's central bank has appointed seven commercial banks
to act as primary dealers for the country's government bonds
as it tries to encourage the development of an active and
liquid secondary market, it said on Monday.
TELECOMS
Ethiopia plans to sell a 5% stake in its state-run telecom
firm to its citizens as part of measures to break up the
monopoly, state-affiliated Fana Broadcasting said on Monday,
quoting Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.
COAST COCOA
Above-average rainfall last week in most of Ivory Coast's
cocoa-growing regions will boost chances of a longer and
larger October-to-March main crop, farmers said on Monday.
EUROBOND
Zambia has kicked off the process of registering its
Eurobond creditors, bringing the country another step closer
to tackling its hefty debt burden.
