Nucor earnings beat by $0.08, revenue fell short of estimates
Investing.com -- Airbus (EPA:AIR) delivered about 51 aircraft in May, marking a 4% decline compared to the same month last year, Reuters reported on Tuesday citing industry sources.
This brings the total number of deliveries for the year to around 243 planes, 5% lower than the figure recorded in the first five months of 2024, the report said.
The company declined to comment ahead of its scheduled monthly performance update on June 5, the report added.
As the world’s leading aircraft manufacturer, Airbus is under increasing pressure from airlines frustrated by persistent delivery delays.
The company is targeting a 7% annual increase in deliveries, aiming to hand over 820 aircraft by year-end.
At the airline industry’s annual summit in New Delhi this week, carriers voiced growing concern over ongoing supply chain issues that have lingered since the pandemic, the report said.
The CEO of Saudi low-cost airline flyadeal went as far as to describe the delays as “inexcusable.”
Airbus has attributed the setbacks in part to slower-than-expected engine deliveries but says it expects conditions to improve and stabilize over the summer months.
