ION expands ETF trading capabilities with Tradeweb integration
Investing.com -- HSBC Holdings PLC (LON:HSBA) has appointed Brendan Nelson as Group Chair, the bank announced Wednesday.
Nelson, who has been serving as interim Group Chair since October 1, joined the HSBC Board in September 2023.
The appointment follows a comprehensive selection process that evaluated both internal and external candidates. Nelson will continue as Chairman of the Group Audit Committee until the publication of the 2025 results in February 2026.
Nelson brings extensive financial services experience from his career at KPMG, where he led the Global Financial Services Practice advising and auditing international banks. He has also served on the boards of BP, RBS, and HSBC.
Ann Godbehere, Senior Independent Director, who led the selection process, expressed delight with Nelson’s appointment, noting his "excellent leadership capabilities backed by his strong banking and governance credentials."
Nelson said he was honored to take on the role and looked forward to "continuing to work with the Board, Georges and the wider management team as we deliver on our strategic and financial objectives."
HSBC, headquartered in London, serves customers from offices in 57 countries and territories. The banking giant reported assets of $3,234 billion as of September 30, 2025.
