Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac shares tumble after conservatorship comments
Investing.com-- BRP (NASDAQ:DOOO) (Bombardier (OTC:BDRBF) Recreational Products) Inc (TSX:DOO) said on Monday it will sell its Australian boat manufacturer, Telwater, to Yamaha Motor Australia, a unit of Japan’s Yamaha Motor Co (TYO:7272).
The sale aligns with BRP’s strategy to exit the marine sector and focus on its core powersports business.
The company did not reveal the financial details of the deal.
BRP is a Canadian multinational company that designs, manufactures, and distributes powersports vehicles, marine products, and propulsion systems. It is best known for brands like Ski-Doo and Lynx snowmobiles
Telwater, known for brands such as Quintrex, Stacer, and Savage, is a key player in Australia’s boating industry.
BRP CEO José Boisjoli called the deal a first step in divesting its marine assets.
The transaction, subject to regulatory approvals, is expected to close in the second quarter of BRP’s fiscal 2026.
Yamaha has operated in Australia since 1983 and is expected to strengthen its presence in the region’s marine market.
