S& P 500 hits all time highs U.S.-Japan trade deal optimism
Investing.com -- CD Projekt S.A. (WA:CDR) shares jumped over 5% on Wednesday after the company announced a new tech demo for The Witcher 4 during the State of Unreal event.
The nine-minute footage, though not final gameplay, showcased Ciri, now confirmed as the game’s protagonist, riding her horse through the region of Kovir, with dynamic environments, active NPCs, and cutting-edge visuals.
Running at 60 FPS with ray tracing on a standard PlayStation 5, the demo demonstrated the potential of Unreal Engine 5 features like Nanite Foliage, Smart Objects, ML Deformer, and FastGeo Streaming.
CD Projekt Red said that the demo’s technical focus, calling it a “first look” at the tools powering the next Witcher title, which isn’t expected before 2027.
Co-CEO Michał Nowakowski described the presentation as a “significant milestone” in collaboration with Epic Games.
Narrative director Philipp Weber reaffirmed the decision to center the story on Ciri, a departure from longtime series protagonist Geralt, a move he acknowledged might be divisive but stands by as the right direction for the franchise.
The Witcher 4 was first announced in late 2024 and is one of several Witcher projects currently in development at CD Projekt Red.
