Gold soars to record high over $3,900/oz amid yen slump, US rate cut bets
Investing.com-- Federal Communications Commission Chair Brendan Carr has agreed to testify before the Senate Commerce Committee in November, Semafor reported, citing a person familiar with the matter.
The panel, led by Senator Ted Cruz, a Texas Republican, is expected to question Carr over his public criticism of Disney (NYSE:DIS) and ABC last month following comments made by late-night host Jimmy Kimmel about conservative activist Charlie Kirk, the report said.
Cruz likened Carr’s remarks to those of a “mob boss” and warned they were “dangerous as hell,” the report added.
Carr has defended his comments as misconstrued and denied any threat to ABC broadcast licenses. The committee is also planning a separate hearing this month on alleged censorship during the Biden administration, according to the Semafor report.
