What happens to stocks if AI loses momentum?
Investing.com-- Microsoft over the weekend issued an alert about “active attacks” on its Sharepoint enterprise software, which appeared to be targeting U.S. and international agencies.
The company on Saturday issued an alert flagging vulnerabilities in SharePoint Servers used within organizations, and on Sunday released an update aimed at protecting some versions of the software.
SharePoint is an enterprise software that allows businesses to create internal platforms for its employees to store documents and collaborate on projects. Businesses using the platform can either host the service directly on their own servers, or use Microsoft’s cloud services.
Bad actors can exploit vulnerabilities in the software to access confidential data and even deploy code within private networks.
Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) said in the advisory that the vulnerabilities were only in SharePoint servers used within organizations, and that SharePoint Online in its Microsoft365 cloud service was unaffected.
The Washington Post reported over the weekend that the hacks had been used by unidentified actors to launch attacks against U.S. and international agencies.
