Investing.com -- OpenAI CEO Sam Altman expects a "significant acceleration" in business growth following the launch of the company’s latest artificial intelligence model, GPT-5.
During a TV interview with CNBC on Friday, Altman reported "positive progress" in OpenAI’s discussions with Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) and highlighted "super strong" enterprise adoption of GPT-5.
The new AI model was unveiled during a livestreamed event on Thursday. GPT-5 is designed to enhance capabilities in coding, creative writing, and reasoning through complex queries.
Altman described the release as a "major upgrade" from the company’s previous AI models. He noted that "for the first time, it really feels like talking to an expert in any topic."
In developing GPT-5, Altman revealed that OpenAI utilized more synthetic data for training the model, representing a shift in the company’s approach to AI development.
The release comes as OpenAI works to maintain its competitive edge against growing competition from rivals in both the United States and China.
