Investing.com-- The Republican campaign committees for the House of Representatives and the Senate are calling on the Federal Trade Commission to investigate Alphabet Inc’s (NASDAQ:GOOGL) Google, Axios reported on Wednesday.

The bodies- the National Republican Congressional Committee, and the National Republican Senate Committee, are calling on the FTC to investigate whether Google and Gmail suppress emails to conservative subscribers, the Axios report said, citing a letter to FTC Chair Andrew Feguson from the heads of the two committees.

The calls for investigation mark a resumption of hostilities between the Grand Old Party and U.S. technology giants, with the Republicans having long criticized big tech for allegedly suppressing or sidelining conservative views.

The Axios report said the Republicans were alleging that during the 2024 election cycle, only 30% of emails from the party were successfully delivered to the primary inboxes of Gmail users, with a majority of their emails being directed into the spam folder, where they were likely never viewed.

In 2023, a case brought by the Republican party against Google for an alleged anti-conservative bias was dismissed by courts.

The Republican committees are calling on the FTC to consider their complaints as part of an inquiry announced in February.
